Empower and build capacity of trans women and trans organizations

Rationale: Trans women and trans organizations have not received the needed support to fully carry their work. In many instances, transgender organizations operate with limited funding, weak organizational structures, and overworked staff. It is crucial to empower and build capacity of trans women and trans organizations to improve access to resources, improve advocacy work to influence policy makers, improve provision of services, better community organizing and overall organization development.
Main Activities
• Develop training curriculum and provide training of trainers (ToT) for trans women
• Adaptation of trans specific guidelines to promote, train, and build capacity of trans women and organizations
• Training on organizational development (such as governance, leadership, program management, etc.) to strengthen organizations’ capacities, structure, and governance
• Mentor local community leaders/ organizations to foster empowerment

Indicators for Monitoring and Evaluation for Objective 6
• Training curriculums and training of trainers on different areas will be developed and implemented for trans women
• Trans-specific guidelines will be adapted to promote, train, and build capacity of trans women and trans women organizations
• Local community trans women leaders will be mentored to foster empowerment and leadership
• Trans women and trans women organizations will be empowered to advocate for their rights, meaningful participation in decision making process, and policy development, amongst other areas
